How can Shiatsu help?
A horse that is free from stress and tension will have...
· a calm outlook, willing to listen and work
· supple joints, muscles free from tightness and thus able to work
· regular, deep, clear and effective breathing to maximise stamina
· good appetite, efficient digestion and normal droppings
· nervous, hormone and immune systems as balanced as they can be
Shiatsu can help address stress and tension in horses on both a physical and emotional level.
Symptoms of stress and tension include:
· Aggressive, moody or grumpy horses
· Nervous, over-reacting or stressy horses
· Horses that are ‘not quite themselves’ or ‘not quite right’
· Unexpected changes in behaviour such as napping, rearing or bucking
· Starting to knock or refuse jumps
· Sore, tense or cold backed horses
· Not tracking up in ridden work or shortened strides
· Difficulty working on a given rein or getting the correct canter lead
Also useful for….
· Helping veterans to be as comfortable and supple as possible
· Recuperating horses that need to stay relaxed and thus better able to heal
· A pre or post performance work – book a taster session to feel the difference it can make to your horse’s warm up routine!
Please note that Shiatsu is a complement to and not a replacement for Veterinary care.
